As of yesterday, both of my boys are done with their semesters! Hello, Christmas break!
Wednesday, we went straight from school to LaRosas for dinner. Then on to the Festival of Lights at the zoo.
Owen ran into a friend from school. The two of them played their seven-year-old boy rough games of throw each other down and push each other off of things. Much to the dismay of the other parents.
Eli fell out of bed one night.
The boys fall asleep each night with the glow of the Christmas lights in their room.
They're always sweet when they're sleeping.
I came up with the brilliant (even if only by my own standards) idea of using a paintbrush to seal all my Christmas card envelopes. I'm going to pin it on Pinterest and let everyone there confirm my genius as well. (Don't burst my bubble and tell me you've all been doing this for years while I've been plagued with the envelope taste in my mouth for days after.)
I was lucky enough to get to spend a lot of time in Owen's classroom over Thursday and Friday. I got to help them buy things (that they had made with fake money they had earned) at their class toy shop, I helped them make latkes, I helped them clean up their final copies of stories they'd written, and I got to help with the Christmas party. Eli got to come a lot as well, which made him ecstatic. More than once, he was confused for a student, which also made him ecstatic.
I had a picture or two of his class, but I'm not comfortable with putting it up, just in case some parents don't want random pictures of their kids on the internet. (Which I totally understand.) But I do want to say how fortunate we feel to have had such great experiences with both kindergarten and first grade. These teachers know what they're doing and they are good at it. I love this school.
