over the rhine me, one final time

Nearly every year, when Brian and I go off to the Taft, the boys ask if they, too, can see Over the Rhine. It's a late night, though, so we've never given in. This year, however, we took advantage of the Sunday afternoon "soiree" that the band puts on in Norwood. And we took the boys.

Because we had to take the boys away from Grandma's (where there were cousins), they weren't exactly as enthusiastic as I had thought they'd be. (Had I just thought it through, I could have easily anticipated that reaction.) However, they enjoyed themselves. And they got to go back to Grandma's for a little more cousin time after the show.

Eli held out for over half the show. He got to hear the band perform his personal favorite, "The King Knows How," and then he conked out on my lap and slept through the last third or so of the show. He woke up just after Owen got to meet Linford, which Owen did in his quietly shy kind of way, looking up at Linford only long enough to flip the hair out of his eyes.

And tomorrow is Christmas for our little household! We have cookies (and a pb&j) on the table for Santa. There's a carrot on our balcony. And two lists of Christmas wishes.
